Since I am currently out of work for 3 weeks now and I'm starting to get a little nuts my daughter says I need to start a blog.. It will be fun she says...
Personally it seems like homework and I currently have enough of that. I am a full time student at University of Phoenix. Which means you go to class 1 night a week, and classes are 5 weeks long. Sounds simple enough right? WRONG! There is enough work for a 14-16 week course crammed into 5. Lots and lots of writing oh and reading most of which are very dry and boring. Did I mention that you also have to work with a team to do additional writing each week? No? Well let me tell you about that. Every 5 weeks you get 3-4 people to work with, if you are lucky you get to work with the same people each class. Now most of the instructors will allow you to choose your teams. So once you get into your core classes you have the chance of finding people you work well with and can stay as a team each class. However in my experience over the past year not everyone has the same view of quality work as you do nor do they have the same work ethics as you. I have been involved with teams that people don't show up to class, or they are there long enough for the first break. Then they have no clue what is going on, and expect those of us who sit through 4 hours of incoherent lecture and death by powerpoint to hold their hand through that weeks work. Worse yet they expect you to do the work or at least most of it. So as you can see I do enough homework that I don't want anymore.
Besides looking for a full time job IS a full time job. Check this online site, then check another, another, and yet another because not all listings are the same on each site. If you are lucky you can apply at more than one company on each site. I think my record for one day is applying at 12 places. Over the past 4 weeks I have applied at 75 places. Yes I know the number because I keep the emails in a folder so I know where I have and haven't applied.
I know no one is reading my babbling right now because this is the first post. But if you found me 6 months from now and you have gone back to read the archived posts, providing I haven't deleted the blog I hope you are enjoying it. Or at least I have posted something that is helpful to you. I haven't decided what direction this blog will go. Kylea, the for-mentioned daughter, says I should make it about my photography. But I don't know yet. So stay tuned and we will find out together what is going to happen.
Smiles,
Debbee
